Streamline Healthcare Delivery and Alleviate Administrative Burden

Amir has over 15 years of experience as a technology and operations executive and has been involved in two successful exits. He was most recently the COO for WELL Health Technologies and TIO Networks (acquired by PayPal for $304M) and previously at Avigilon, where he helped scale the business from a stealth mode startup to a public company with a market cap of more than $1 billion (revenue grew to over $100M in 5 years). He holds a Computer Engineering degree from the University of British Columbia.

Darren joined WELL Health’s finance executive team in May 2022 and was appointed CFO of WELLSTAR in December 2024. He brings over 25 years of professional finance experience to WELLSTAR across the healthcare, biotechnology, and aerospace and defence industries, specializing in financial strategy and leadership, corporate finance, FP&A, financial reporting, treasury, and risk management.  Prior to joining WELLSTAR, Darren served in executive and senior management finance positions at MDA, Zymeworks, and Teekay and spent several years in the audit division of KPMG. Darren is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (with honours) from the University of British Columbia. 

Nikki is a global marketing leader with over 30 years of experience developing and implementing integrated marketing strategies and building high-performance marketing teams for B2B technology companies. She has worked with numerous companies at various stages of growth, from start-ups to enterprises, developing and executing marketing strategies to drive growth and market leadership. Prior to joining WELLSTAR, Nikki owned and operated a successful marketing consultancy whose clients included start-up and growth companies such as Kobo, League, Security Compass, and Nudge Rewards (Axonify), as well as held senior marketing leadership roles in respected Canadian and global technology companies.

James has 20 years of experience as a revenue and go-to-market executive across SaaS and technology. He specializes in building scalable GTM systems, revenue architecture, and efficient growth engines across PLG and sales-led motions, partnering closely with executive team members to drive durable, capital-efficient growth.

Ammar Shah is an accomplished corporate development and strategy leader with over nine years of experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), capital markets, and growth strategy. He currently leads deal origination, evaluation, and integration efforts across WELLSTAR’s platforms. Ammar is known for combining capital markets expertise with hands-on M&A execution — helping founders and operators navigate deal strategy, structuring, and post-acquisition integration in the rapidly evolving health-tech landscape.

He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Maral is a dynamic operations and customer success leader with over a decade of experience in the public and private healthcare sector. Recognized for her expertise in scaling customer service teams, she excels at driving operational efficiency through innovative process improvements and technology-driven solutions. In her most recent role at DoctorCare, Maral established and scaled the Client Success department to support over 9,000 customers through organic and M&A growth. Maral’s deep domain expertise positions her to lead customer operations initiatives, leveraging her proven track record of fostering customer-centric cultures resulting in substantial revenue growth, client retention, and operational efficiency. 

Ryan is a digital health leader with a background in industrial engineering and health system transformation. Prior to joining WELLSTAR he held an executive role with the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness, where he led digital strategy and governance initiatives to drive system-wide change. A founding member of the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub, Ryan has been instrumental in building the strategic direction for health innovation in Atlantic Canada. Nationally, he has chaired the AI for Health table at Health Canada and the Atlantic Digital Health Collaborative with Canada Health Infoway. In 2025, he was named an AMS Fitzgerald Fellow in AI and Human-Centred Leadership at the University of Toronto and the 2024 Digital Health Canada Leader of the Year.

Hamed has 25+ years of experience as a technology focused operator. In 1997, he founded TIO Networks (TSXV:TNC) a kiosk solution provider and transitioned it into a multi-channel payment solution provider, specializing in bill payment and other financial services. In July of 2017, TIO Networks was acquired by PayPal (NASDAQ:PYPL) for CAD$304 million. Over his career, Hamed has gained extensive experience in strategic mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, both as an operator (eg. TIO) and board member (eg. BBTV, WELL) with more than a dozen successful transactions.

Evelyn is a seasoned financial executive and corporate director with more than 25 years of experience leading finance organizations for public and private companies across healthcare, infrastructure, retail, distribution and business services.

Ms. Sutherland most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of Staples Canada, where she was responsible for financial planning and analysis, accounting, external reporting, treasury, investor relations, payroll, procurement and the company’s real estate portfolio. Previously, she served as Chief Financial Officer of Enercare Inc., where she played a key role in the company’s strategic growth, capital markets activities, investor relations and acquisition program.

Throughout her career, Ms. Sutherland has extensive experience in public company reporting, corporate governance, capital allocation, mergers and acquisitions, enterprise risk management and strategic finance. She has held executive leadership roles in both publicly traded and privately held companies, led more than 50 acquisition and divestiture transactions, executed numerous debt and equity financing transactions, and worked closely with boards of directors, institutional investors and executive leadership teams.

Ms. Sutherland currently serves as Chair of the Audit Committee and a director of WELLSTAR Technologies. She previously served as a director of Andlauer Healthcare Group Inc., where she chaired the Compensation, Nominating and Governance Committee and served on the Audit Committee. She also served as Audit Committee Chair and Treasurer of the Canadian Mental Health Association – York Region and South Simcoe.

Ms. Sutherland is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA, FCA) and has been recognized as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women by WXN.

Sue is a distinguished CEO, board director, and community leader with experience spanning technology and innovation, health care, pharmacy, and law. For more than three decades, she has led organizations and teams through transition and growth, helping them capture new markets, customers, and opportunities. As Managing Partner of Russell & DuMoulin, Sue spearheaded a multi-party merger of leading Canadian law firms that created Fasken, one of Canada’s most respected legal firms. As a board director and later CEO of Pharmasave, she expanded the company’s national reach while leading major technology innovations, including online access to pharmaceutical and prescription information—advances that helped transform the sector. At LifeLabs, where she served first as a board member and later as CEO, Sue led the largest merger in the Canadian diagnostics industry and advanced innovations such as online access to test results and broad access to non-invasive prenatal testing, a development that transformed prenatal care for families. In 2018, Sue became the inaugural CEO of Digital, one of Canada’s innovation clusters. Under her leadership, Digital delivered a 12x return on investment and supported the development and deployment of breakthrough technologies across health, life sciences, mining, and talent development. These efforts helped Canadian companies attract more than $1.4 billion in new funding, create 34,000 jobs, and generate more than 700 intellectual property assets. Sue has also served on the boards of CORIX Water Systems, TELUS Digital, ICBC, the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, and others. She currently serves on the boards of Nexus Water Systems, Stemcell Technologies’ advisory board, and Own the Podium. She is also a committed community leader, having served as a board member of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, including as Chair from 2010 to 2012; Co-chair of the Board of Trade Chairs’ Advisory Council; board member and Chair of the Business Council of BC from 2018 to 2020; member of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council on Public Service; and board member and Chair of the Michael Smith Foundation from 2000 to 2010. When she is not leading innovation and organizational success, Sue enjoys hiking Vancouver’s North Shore mountain trails and spending time in the wilderness with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

John “Matt” Mattox has led marketing and revenue teams in health
information technology and enterprise software for more than 20 years.
He served as Chief Marketing Officer at Ambience Healthcare and as
Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Revenue Officer at Redox. He
previously held roles at Red Hat and GE Digital. He is the founder and
CEO of Concorda, which uses artificial intelligence to help
go-to-market teams build account memory and move faster with better
context. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard
Business School.
